Information is an essential input to national development. The modern library has great responsibility in harnessing and utilization of information. The library and information centers strive for high quality of library services which emphasis the actual delivery of information rather than actual delivery of documents for meeting their generic as well as specific needs of the users.
Standard text books and books by authors of repute in all fields taught at the college are stocked. The college follows a policy of buying multiple copies of many of these books to make them available to a large number of students. There is no question of budget approval when it comes to the buying of books.

Durga Mahavidyalaya has one of the largest libraries in terms of space and collection in Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University. Established in 1951, the library is regarded as one of the most resource-rich libraries in the state, with a collection exceeding 65,000 books, including a significant number of rare and reference books.
From 1983 to 1985, the library of Durga Mahavidyalaya functioned as “Addhayan Kendra” (study center) for Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University when it lacked a dedicated library building, effectively catering to the academic and research needs of the university’s students.

With dedicated sections such as the Rare Book Corner, Reference Section, Reading Area, Book Bank, Donated Book Corner, and a Competitive Exam Preparation Zone, the library caters to the diverse academic needs of students, faculty, and researchers. It is a dynamic space that supports academic excellence and holistic development.

The policy applies to all individuals, groups, organizations and other entities wishing to donate books, journals and other educational materials to the College Library Once donated, books and materials will not be returned to the donor upon request. All donated materials will be made available for circulation to library users unless specified. The library reserves the right to discard/write off donated materials based on their utility, relevance and physical condition. Types of Acceptable Donations:
Text books, Reference books and other academic resources aligned with the current curriculum. Scholarly works including journals, monographs, research articles, journals, etc. General reading materials like year books, encyclopedias, rare books, local literature Items Not Acceptable:
Materials that are damaged or in poor condition will not be accepted. |
